Topic: Childhood Exposures = Adult Disorders
Thesis Statement:
Environmental exposures presented to children creates, antisocial characters, obsessive
compulsive behaviors, and narcissistic thoughts in adults.
1st Main Point: That Serves to Prove Your Thesis: Antisocial Characters

According to Ashiq (2018), physical and emotional abuse experiences in
childhood results in the development of maladaptive schemas leading to antisocial
personality disorders.
o As a child transitions into adulthood, he tends to take past experience with
along with him. Things that happened to him in his past affects his mental
livelihood as an adult.

Ashiq (2018) says, the consequence of personality problems depends on the
severity level of childhood trauma experiences.
o Depending on how traumatic the situation is for the child will determine
how great the personality barriers will be in the child’s adult phase. The
greater the barrier is will determine how severe the antisocial traits will be.
2nd Main Point: That Serves to Prove Your Thesis: Obsessive- Compulsive Behaviors

Langley (2010) says, finding suggest that increased depressive symptoms
associated with comorbid anxiety maybe more closely related to increased OCD
severity than comorbid anxiety.
o The severity of situations and reaction of OCD is more so related to the
condition itself rather than a feeling of anxiety.

According to Menzies, childhood OCD is a distinct subtype of adult
OCD…(2003).
o Adult OCD is first formed during childhood from previous and current
experiences. Traumatic things that happens to a child can cause problems
for the adult.
3rd Main Point that Serves to Prove your Thesis: Narcissistic Thoughts

Ashiq says, due to physical and emotional neglect in childhood and other parental
ridged rules lead to negative schemes ending in development of narcissistic PD as
they did not recognize their true potentials in their childhood (2018).
o When a child is faced with traumas of physical and emotional abuse, he no
longer can enjoy the what ifs and ah- ha moments. Everything the child
thinks or does become negative and he in turn has no room to grow or
create positive or growing environment for himself, physically or
mentally.
Research identifies that childhood traumatic experiences contributes to the
personality disorders in adults (Ashiq, 2018)
o Traumatic experiences creates a difficult window for children to grow and
be themselves. Instead the child is faced with the notion to learn to cope
with the situation or secondly be overtaken by the situation.
Conclusion What Have You found in your research and how does this apply to your thesis:
Overall, during my research it was found that based on the severity of the environment
determined the effect of personality disorder in the child. This relates to my thesis in the way of,
environmental exposures be it good or bad plays a major role in the child’s personality growth. If
trauma is the only thing the child experiences then he has a greater chance at developing a
negative personality trait. Also, because the person was traumatized during childhood, the affects
transfers over into adulthood. Which in turn creates antisocial tendencies, obsessive- compulsive
behaviors, and narcissistic acts, conducted by now adults.
