PART 1: TWO EXAMPLES OFVISUAL ELEMENTS:
1. Photograph an artwork within the Denver Art Museum that prominently demonstrates the use of one of the following visual elements discussed in class: line, mass, shape, space, time, motion, light, color, or texture. The artwork you choose should clearly display the single visual element you select.
2. Place the photograph into the provided template and state the title of the piece, the name of the artist, media or technique, label it either, representational, abstract, or non-representational and indicate its most prominent visual element.
3. Within the template, provide a minimum of 5 sentences that support and explain why the chosen visual element is the most prominent and why it is important to that particular artwork. Your comments must be detailed and specific. Please specify the characteristics of the visual element (if applicable), such as: implied line, organic or geometrical shape, warm or cold, complimentary or monochromatic colors etc. Make sure to focus your comments on the single visual element you choose.

4. Select a new and different work of art that represents a different visual element and repeat steps 1-3. Do not repeat the same visual element or artwork.

PART 2: TWO EXAMPLES OFPRINCIPLES OF DESIGN:
1. Photograph a new and different artwork within the Denver Art Museum that prominently demonstrates the use of one of the following principles of design discussed in class: unity, variety, balance, rhytm, emphasis, subordination, directional forces, or contrast. The artwork you choose should clearly display the single principle of design you select.
2. Place the photograph into the provided template and state the title of the piece, the name of the artist, media or technique, label it either, representational, abstract, or non-representational and indicate its most prominent principle of design.
3. Within the template, provide a minimum of 5 sentences that support and explain why the chosen principle of design is the most prominent and why it is important to that particular artwork. Your comments must be detailed and specific. Specify the characteristics of the element of design (if applicable), such as: symmetrical or asymmetrical balance, etc. Make sure to focus your comments on the single principle of design chosen.
4. Select a new and different work of art that represents a different principle of design and repeat steps 1-3. Do not repeat the same principle of desin or artwork.

PART 3: VIEWING LIVE ART
Viewing live art creates unique and perceptual experiences for each individual. While workin on this part, keep in mind your past experiences having only viewed a work of art in a book. Consider how seeing art in person is a different experience dur to environment and a host of factors. During your visit, pay close attention to the immediate and surrounding space and the viewing audience. How is your experience enhanced or disrupted by sounds, lights, smells, and the energy (or lack of energy) from the viewing audience?
Rememeber, your comments must be anallitical, detailed and specific!
1. Choose and photograph any collection/exhibit within the Denver Art Museum that you were particularly drawn too.
2. Place the photograph into the provided template and state which location of the Museum you recorded the image.
3. Within the template, provide a minimum of 5 sentences that address:
1.Venue: Provide a description of what the overall exhibiting space looks like. What do you feel may have been guilding ideas behind the concept for the design of the venue as a place to present art?
2. Presentation: Briefly describe the exhibition itself: how the objects are displayed, how the artworks are lit, and the organization of the artworks.
3.Audience: How many people were there? How other people reacted to the event?
4.Analyze your experience: What specific elements enhanced your experience and what elements distracted you?
5. Analyze your experience: How did this experience with live art compare to prior experiences of both live and non-live art? Make sure to include a final statement explaining why you feel that live art events may differ from events that are not live.
